New Delhi: Omaxe on Tuesday announced that a spectator stand at its upcoming cricket stadium in Dwarka will be named after India women’s cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur, marking what the company described as a step toward inclusive sports infrastructure.
The stand, to be called the Harmanpreet Kaur Stand, will feature India’s first dedicated ‘Pink Stand’ within a cricket stadium, designed to encourage greater participation from women and families.
Located in the North Pavilion Lower Bowl, the stand will have a seating capacity of over 1,500 and will form part of a 30,000-seat stadium being developed at The Omaxe State, an integrated sports and lifestyle destination spread across more than 50 acres in Dwarka Sector 19B.
The project, with an estimated investment of ₹2,500 crore, is being developed in collaboration with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and is positioned as a multi-use hub combining sports, retail, hospitality and social infrastructure.
Speaking at the announcement, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “It is truly special to have a stand named after me at The Omaxe State. Cricket has given me so much, and this recognition makes the journey even more meaningful. I am glad to have contributed to ideas that make the stadium more inclusive for women.”
Omaxe Managing Director Mohit Goel said the initiative reflects a broader shift in how sports infrastructure is being designed in India.
“Harmanpreet’s journey represents resilience and leadership. Naming a stand after her is a recognition of her contribution and also of the growing prominence of women’s sport in India,” Goel said.
He added that the introduction of the Pink Stand was aimed at improving accessibility and comfort for women spectators.
“We are introducing a dedicated Pink Stand with a capacity of over 1,500 seats to create a more inclusive environment. We have also incorporated inputs to improve facilities for women athletes, which are still limited in many stadiums,” he said.
Omaxe also said it has engaged over 25 national and international consultants for the project, including Bentel Associates International, which will lead the design of commercial, retail and hospitality components.

The broader development will include a multi-sport indoor arena, high-street retail, and a five-star hotel in partnership with Indian Hotels Company Limited.
According to the company, the stadium has been designed in line with international standards and may support India’s long-term ambitions of hosting global sporting events.
The project will also feature AI-enabled crowd management systems, multiple entry and exit points, and integrated transport access to handle large-scale events.
Envisioned as “Delhi’s Own Stadium,” The Omaxe State aims to function as a year-round destination integrating sport, business and public spaces.
