Knauf India Launches HeatBloc for Energy-Efficient Buildings

New Delhi: Knauf India, a global leader in Drywall & Ceiling Solutions, has introduced HeatBloc, an advanced thermal management solution designed to improve indoor comfort and enhance energy efficiency in residential and commercial buildings.

The newly launched gypsum plasterboard features a polyester-metallised aluminium foil backing that helps reduce heat penetration by reflecting thermal radiation before it enters interior spaces. The solution is designed to address heat gain through walls and ceilings, supporting better thermal performance in buildings.

HeatBloc is engineered to reflect up to 85% of solar radiation, helping minimise heat transfer and potentially reducing cooling requirements. By limiting heat ingress at the building envelope level, the product aims to support more energy-efficient construction practices while improving indoor environmental conditions.

The HeatBloc range is available in two thickness options — 9.5 mm and 12.5 mm — to suit different application requirements. The 9.5 mm variant is designed for ceiling systems, while the 12.5 mm board is suitable for wall linings and drywall applications where additional stability is required.

Manufactured in compliance with IS 2095 (Part 1) 2023 – Type A standards, HeatBloc is designed to provide consistent performance and quality. The product also features a smooth surface finish to support seamless interior applications, along with a metallic backing that enables easy identification during installation.

Commenting on the launch, Mr Vijay Mishra, Commercial Director at Knauf, said, “As rising temperatures continue to affect cities across India, there is a growing need to rethink how buildings are designed for thermal comfort. Material-led solutions that help reduce heat ingress can play an important role in improving indoor environments while also lowering the demand on cooling systems. HeatBloc is part of our broader portfolio aimed at supporting more energy-efficient and climate-responsive construction practices.”

With the construction industry increasingly adopting sustainable and performance-oriented building solutions, products that address challenges such as heat gain and thermal management are expected to play a greater role in residential and commercial developments.
