New Delhi: BPTP Limited has launched WA-VANA, a premium gated residential precinct within its integrated township in Sector 80, Faridabad, bringing wellness, sustainability and intergenerational living together under a community concept inspired by the Japanese philosophy of Ikigai.
The development has been conceived around the idea of finding purpose and meaning in everyday life. Its name combines “WA”, representing harmony, and “VANA”, symbolising nature. The project follows the philosophy of “WA VANA – Harmony: A Zen Sanctuary in the Oasis”, drawing from the principles of Japanese gardens while adapting them to contemporary residential living.

The community uses minimalist design and locally adapted, drought-tolerant planting to create spaces intended for residents across generations. The planning allows for areas where elders can meditate and unwind, while children have opportunities to explore, play and engage with nature.
Five Japanese philosophies — Kaizen (continuous improvement), Ichigo Ichie (cherishing every moment), Shokunin (craftsmanship), Osewa (care for others) and Gaman (resilience) — form the conceptual foundation of WA-VANA. The development has been master planned as a lifestyle ecosystem in which landscaped areas play a central role in wellness, social interaction and learning across generations.
A key feature of the project is an approximately ~1-acre Japanese Forest positioned at the centre of the community. The landscape is designed as an everyday retreat inspired by the Japanese approach to living in harmony with nature, bringing together recreational, wellness and community-oriented spaces.
The Japanese Forest includes a Shinrin-Yoku, or forest bathing, trail, along with Zen gardens, bamboo groves, meditation pavilions and yoga decks. Walking and jogging trails are integrated with children’s sensory play areas, community gardens, water features, an amphitheatre and shaded seating spaces. Together, these elements are intended to support mindfulness, physical activity and social interaction among residents.
