Mumbai: Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan, has announced that YKK India Private Limited will establish a new manufacturing facility at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai.
According to YKK India, the proposed facility will be the company’s third manufacturing plant in India. The project will be developed across approximately 149,936 square metres within the integrated industrial cluster and involves a total investment of USD 150 million. The facility is expected to be completed by February 2028.
The development adds YKK India to a growing list of manufacturers operating at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai, including Mitsubishi Electric, Yanmar and Omron.
YKK India manufactures and supplies fastening products for the apparel, textile and industrial sectors in India and international markets. The company said the new facility will integrate its advanced manufacturing technologies and support both domestic demand and export-oriented manufacturing requirements.
The facility will benefit from infrastructure and industrial ecosystem offerings available at Origins by Mahindra, Chennai, including connectivity and logistics support designed for manufacturing operations.

Origins by Mahindra, Chennai is located on NH16 and falls within the influence zones of the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and the Chennai–Visakhapatnam Industrial Corridor (CVIC). The industrial cluster provides connectivity to industrial hubs, ports and logistics infrastructure supporting manufacturing-led businesses.
