As Sustainability Becomes a Homebuyer Priority, Central Park Showcases Rainwater Harvesting as a Core Pillar of Future-Ready Residential Communities

Central Park Demonstrates Rainwater Harvesting System in Gurugram

Mumbai: Sustainability continues to be a key consideration across Central Park Resorts’ residential developments. On June 19, at the behest of the Principal Advisor, Urban Development, Government of Haryana, the company conducted a live practical demonstration and on-ground mock drill of its Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) System Management at Central Greens, Sector 48, Gurugram.

The demonstration showcased the comprehensive maintenance protocol developed by the engineering team at Central Park Resorts for the stormwater control and rainwater harvesting system. The exercise was conducted in the presence of officials from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), along with representatives from 30 group housing societies and Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) across Gurugram.

During the demonstration, Central Park presented the following technical aspects of its Rainwater Harvesting System:

  • Physical inspection and functional health checks of RWH recharge pits, including desilting, debris removal, and replacement of filter media comprising gravel, sand, and charcoal layers.
  • A pre-monsoon preparatory drill involving the cleaning and flushing of collection pipes, inlet gates, and first-flush diverters to ensure unobstructed water flow.
  • Structural integrity assessments of catchment surfaces, connecting pipework, and percolation zones.
  • Capacity assessment and recharge rate estimation for RWH pits in accordance with Central Ground Water Board guidelines and Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority requirements.
  • Display of signage, awareness materials, and resident engagement initiatives adopted by Central Park Resorts to encourage water conservation.

The demonstration highlighted the role of sustainable infrastructure in residential developments and illustrated how systematic maintenance practices can support long-term water conservation and community resilience.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Vikram Singh, President – Project, Central Park, said, “The future of real estate can’t only be pivoted to premium amenities and quality construction. It is equally important for the developers to instill faith in all stakeholders about creating sustainable and resilient living ecosystems. Water conservation infrastructure including rainwater harvesting systems have become a critical component of responsible community planning. Through this demonstration, we endeavored to showcase how proactive maintenance, technology, and stakeholder collaboration can significantly enhance the performance of these systems thereby contributing to long-term environmental sustainability.”

The demonstration reflects the growing focus on sustainability within India’s real estate sector, where environmental considerations are increasingly influencing both homebuyer preferences and investment decisions. Beyond design and amenities, buyers are placing greater emphasis on long-term water security and compliance with environmental regulations.
